Intellectual Property Portfolio Auction
In 2020, Deutsche Telekom engaged Innovative Auctions to design, implement, and manage the sale of a portfolio of more than 160 patents relating to online navigation technologies.
Our role covered the complete auction process: auction design, rules and documentation, software implementation, bidder onboarding, and live auction management.
We developed a confidentiality framework that preserved bidder anonymity while giving the seller a transparent and binding outcome. Innovative Auctions acted as the independent auctioneer, ensuring that every participant was treated consistently and that the process followed the published conditions.
A secure online data room supported bidder due diligence. We prepared the Conditions of Sale, managed bidder qualification, non-disclosure agreements and deposits, and guided qualified bidders through onboarding.
Our auction platform was configured for a custom, multi-phase price-discovery process with secure online bidding, complete audit logging, and operational controls for the auction team.
By combining specialist auction design, purpose-built technology, and disciplined process management, we delivered a transparent, enforceable, and confidential sale process for a complex intellectual-property asset.
